THE INTERSECTION OF CREATIVITY & TRAUMA
I inhabit this unique, liminal space where internal systems can be re-organised and old stories and future outcomes, re-negotiated. After thirty years of working full time in Entertainment and a lifetime of living with, and healing my traumas, whether clients are in high stress, wanting to heal, or get unstuck, it’s a privilege to guide them through this space.
My Approach
If you’ve been referred to me, you’re either in high stress and need immediate support or you’re likely feeling stuck and wanting to innovate or heal.
When I’m not on set, or working on call in stress response, I refer to myself as a “Trauma and Creativity Coach”.
I am a practitioner. I am not a therapist.
After thirty years of working in Entertainment, I have personally mapped how trauma and/or chronic stress disrupt our ability to not only function, but create. To work with me, your trauma doesn’t have to be defined by a big event. You may not be traumatized. You might just have energy that got trapped in the body and never found a way out. And I by no means only work with clients who identify as artists. I believe everyone has the capacity to be creative. In my personal healing experiences and now in my practice I have noticed how much faster people get where they want to go, when we utilize, support and strengthen the Nervous System and recruit the imagination.
I am obsessed with transformation, human potential and efficacy.
Coaching is often a goal-oriented modality and I can work in a very targeted way. We do not have to do a “deep dive” into your childhood. The science-based techniques I use are so compassionate and gentle, I will not let you re-traumatize. I can facilitate clients to not only get well, but get creating again when trauma occurs or when it’s symptoms re-emerge. Or I can facilitate when anyone at all is feeling stuck. I choose this approach because it is a mainline to efficacy; I utilize the client’s superpower—the imagination—to heal themselves. Once the energy moves, cognition improves and ideas flow more readily. The Somatic Experiencing model in general engenders self agency and resiliency. The tools I teach my clients can be used in every sphere of their lives and if they decide to do more long term work with me, I help them to process the underlying, debilitating and often prolonged effects of trauma.
I’m drawn to helping the outliers and outside the box kids (and kids at heart) who are underappreciated, under-resourced, undervalued and often misunderstood.
My heart lies in helping the elusively talented and under-resourced.
